West Prawle is a tiny hamlet of some 6 properties and lies 200 yards off the East Portlemouth road, mid way between East Prawle and East Portlemouth.
East Portlemouth features some of the best family beaches in the South Hams and there is a small pedestrian ferry which provides transport to Salcombe where there are numerous restaurants and pubs, not to mention the shopping!
Salcombe harbour is at the head of the Kingsbridge estuary; Kingsbridge itself has very good shopping facilities and has a weekly farmers market.
Our nearest village is East Prawle which lies just inland of the notorious wreckers paradise of Prawle Point and has two Pubs; the Pigs Nose, with its real ale and bar food and which is becoming famous for its live music, and The Providence Inn a 16th century village pub which also serves real ale and provides excellent evening meals. Tim Johnson who has recently become landlord has an interesting “blog”.
Further a-field are the Cricket Inn at Beesands, the Tradesman Arms and Church House at Stokenham and, famous for its fish & chips, the Start Bay Inn at Torcross .
Salcombe of course is a sailors paradise with craft of all types and sizes including the famous Salcombe yawls.
Apart from the wonderful local beaches, there are many attractions in the locality for children of all ages, these include Sorley Tunnel, Woodlands, Pennywell Farm, and a host of others.

Slightly further afield are the National Maritime Museum in Plymouth and the recently opened Torbay Aquarium.
