Approximately four miles down the road from the Hollybrook Country Inn is the town of Carmarthenshire. Here you will find lots of the big name shops, cafes and banks.
If you want to find out more about Carmarthen's past you can visit the Carmarthen County Museum at Abergwili. The museum is set in lovely parkland and has displays which include the Romans, furniture and paintings.
Visit the National Botanical Garden of Wales which is located in the Towy Valley. The park is surrounded by hundreds of acres of beautiful countryside, with plenty of things to see and do. Experience Mediterranean conditions under the giant glass dome, enjoy gardens and architecture from around the world, sample Welsh cuisine, watch a 360-degree film and learn about flora, fauna and the countryside in a unique and fun environment.
Make a stop at the Gwili Steam Railway. Travel through the beautiful gwili valley with green fields and wooded hillsides on the only steam standard guage railway operating in South Wales. Enjoy a picnic by the riverside.
Visit Merlin the wizard's home at Merlins Hill Centre. Meet farmyard animals on this working farm and see the heritage centre. Walk the nature trails to an ancient hill fort site with breathtaking views. Exclusive wool collection also available.
A short drive away (approx 15 miles) is the busy local town of Newcastle Emlyn. It has many attractions including antiques, craft shops, clothes shops, bakeries, butchers, pubs and restaurants. You can also take a walk around the castle.
